Small wedding cake ideas for every season

Looking for a smaller more intimate wedding cake for your 2025 wedding? A huge trend now, probably following on from covid is the smaller or, wait for it… micro wedding.

This by no means involves compromises on quality or style, actually having a smaller wedding can mean you have the means to splash out a bit on the wedding itself - elevate the venue, florals, the dream dress and of course, the cake. Having only those around you that count, plus the luxurious and beautiful elements to your day without cutting corners can be the perfect solution.

For me a two/three tier or even single tier cake is a more elegant affair, small but oh so perfectly formed… Whilst huge wedding cakes make a statement with their sheer size, the smaller cake makes its statement with the detail.

Of course if your venue is the size of an aircraft hanger then you do need something that won’t get lost in the space, however you can ‘big up’ your cake with clever display, stands and the placement of the decoration.

Leaning the sugar work to the top of the cake and carrying it on at height over the top is a great way to add a few more inches.

With more varied weddings of varied size and in all sorts of venues, from private homes to fine dining restaurants, the smaller cake is a lot more flexible.

You may prefer dessert to cake for your guests - a small wedding cake alongside a dessert table can add a point of interest and a cake to cut whilst indulging a more varied patisserie option.

Single tier or two tier cakes also lend themselves very well to very special events. A milestones, a token of love or gratitude can be expressed with a beautifully designed gift cake.
